Hey Guys, I'm new to this whole cooling thing and I'd like to try the water cooling method...however I'm considering adding thermal paste to the CPU and GPU, my question is, "Is there currently any thermal paste on the CPU/GPU on my XBOX 360 when it comes from the factory?" thank again guys!

if there wasnt any paste on there then it wouldnt work.

i wowuldnt bother with going to the trouble of water cooling a console, just replce the stock fans with the talismoon whisper fans and you should be ok.
others will tell you different but I have a launch day console still going strong, i replaced the fans within the first month of having it.

Yeah I got the Talismoon fan, (Which looks great!) but thanks for the comment, I just didnt know on how this whole cooling thing went. So, in order for the heatsink and fan to even work right you NEED the thermal paste...ok, thanks, that was more or less my question. Now there are alot of different thermal pastes out there, one of which I know is a well respected brand favored by PC modders, A brand known as "Arctic Silver" IF I decided to go ahead with the thermal paste thing would this be a good option to use?

Yes, artic silver is among the best thermal compounds. The silver means that it has tiny particles of silver, to help conduct heat through the compound to the heatsink.

i know a few people who opened it up and replaced the stock paste with Arctic Silver, which i agree is top of the line, but really the talismoon fan should work fine unless your house is kept pretty warm.

I bought the whisper fan and did the install;;; no problems... I then bought 2 PC fan coolers from best buy, hooked them up together and siliconed them to the side grey vents on my 360 ( i set my 360 horizontal). I also bought one of those notebook coolers and have my 360 setting on that too.. Finally, once i took the 360 cooling fans out to install the whisper unit, I then thought heck I'll make my own nyko intercooler by attaching the factory fans to the backside of my 360 case inline with the internal whisper unit.

The difference between my AWESOME cooling setup and others, ALL are powered by their own external plug-in transformers i found laying around the house (i save them from everything, never know when you might need one or TWO for something).. I just made sure they put out the correct voltage and mA....

My 360 can be played for hours and its very very very cooooolllll

nice PSeaGamer. A lot further then i would ever go but i applaud you ingenuity.

I have played mine a few times for 6 hours at a time and never once has it overheated. Then again my house is kept at about 70 degrees so it is never that hot inside.

You should write out some technical diagrams for anyone else who may want to pursue your cooloing system.
