Hi there
i recently received my first xbox 360 unused. and i tried to flash it
using the toolbox i think its the maximus one.
anyway i did the raw dump then and this message came up saying do you want to open it i clicked yes and it gave me a fileruntime error message. i tried again no luck. repeated it 14 times and got 14 dumps.
then i used the other optiion iXtreme1.2_rev2_Hitachi_Sense_Fixfw and it said firmware straight to drive i click it. then a loading bar came up meaning its flashing but it crashed half way through.
this gave me an error and i had to lcik no until it got to the end of the bar. i got worried so connected the xbox 360 to my tv and gt a error message 65. but when i unplug the drive it loads the xbox 360 menu and says oppening drive and if i connect it back it goes to the error screen.
the drive does eject or even spin the bxo 360 can't detect it.
is the drive dead or bricked or is there anyway i can fix it.
i have the original firmware key and the drive is 78. i have a windows vista computer which i connected it.
please help me or i have just lost £200 pleassssssssssssee
thanks
(only answer my thread if you know about the problem)
the drive does not eject meaning it does not open and the pc cannot detect the drive but can you or anyone give me a step by step guide for a beginner on how to do that
also when i use the slax cd and it says login i login then i power off the pc and power back on and remove disc and it detects the drive but does not boot into windows just stays on a screen which says:
scaning for devices
no raids
the drive name something dvd -rom grd comes up and blah blah #
this may also tell me the drive is not dead.#
this afternoon i decided to connect the drive but remove the black cable with a white rectangle you connect from the xbox to the drive and the xbox keeps rebooting if i press the eject button or use the pad to click on open tray
please help me this is my third post know helps me and says i have never heard of this problem blah blah
thanks

By the sound of it, your dump didn't come out right. Sometimes with Maxiums even if your dump doesnt go correctly it still gives you a .bin file. Can you tell us how big the file size is, in kb, the .bin file is you flahsed to your drive?

Ok, that sounds fine. So you managed to what looks like a good dump. Now for the flashing part. First off what drive is it? I know its hitachi but is it 78Fk or 59DJ etc etc? It should say this on the sticker. Or even when your reading your dumped firmware.

Ok, thats odd.
All i could reccomend is..
Dump your firmware again (This time without an error) If you get the error consult us about it before you proceed in flashing.
Then make sure the drive keys are identical in both firmwares.
Then what i would personally reccomend is:
A differential flash (Restore) Your orig.bin back on the drive.
Then a Differential flash (Patch) Your new hacked firmware onto your drive.
Then you should be clean sailing :)

Argh, please dont set out your posts like that. Its so hard to get info from that. Also you said, Quote: the drive does eject or even spin the bxo 360 can't detect it.
However i do apologise i should have seen that last bit.
Right, Anyway with regards to your problem. If your drive is in that state then yes it is "dead" You are damn lucky that you managed to get your drive key out before the drive died. Get a new drive off ebay. Inject your key into that dirve. Spoof the dirve you bought into being a V0078FK. And then hack or dont hack whatever is your choice.
Thanks

no but when i put the slax disc in during the pc poweroff up and turn on the xbxo 360 then it says login i put in the password and username.
then i poweroff the pc and power it on and remove the disc and start up it says
scanning for devices:
no raid
hd dvd-rom drive gdr 3120L
but i cannot go any further as i have to power off the pc and power back on to go to pc destop. and when i connect the xbox360 to the dashboard using the black cable with a white connection and discconect the full black cable and press the eject button or go to open tray it restarts the xbox 360
so doesnt this mean my drive it alive and it can be fixed

Ok, doesnt sound like your doing slax right. AND PLEASE SET OUT YOUR POSTS IN A MORE READBALE MANNER!!
Anyway from what you said, i dont think your getting the drive into mode B correctly. To do slax you must:
Connect the drive to your pc
Turn on the pc and boot slax, at the clover leaf that should pop up, turn on your xbox 360.
Wait for it to say, "Spinning up disc," Then eject the drive.
Once this is done wait for the prompt to log in. AT THIS POINT RESET THE COMPUTER. DO NOT POWEROFF. RESET. Then launch into windows and try and reflash?
That work?

Right ok: (Remember this is to get Slax to work to get the drive into mode B)
Download the slax live cd
Insert the Slax CD
Turn off the computer
Connect the xbox 360 to a free sata port
Turn on the computer
Boot to the CD (Usualy F8 or F2 at the bios screens for most computers)
When the clover appears / the writing underneath it says booting something then lots of ...... IMMEDIATLY TURN THE 360 ON.
Watch all the script it should stop and the bottom line read, "spinning up disc"
Click Eject on your xbox 360
Wait for the script to go away and the prompt to log onto slax to come up.
At this point RESET the computer not power off RESET.
Then to flash
LAunch into windows
Open Maximus Firmware Toolbox
Click direct drive dump (Raw mode for your V78)
Then get your orig key compare it you key before to make sure its correct.
Then restore your orig firmware.
Then patch your hacked firmware onto the 360 drive.
DONE
