I have to say quite a few backups but as new titles appear more and more seem to have the lovely updates built in.

I have a UK/Euro Wii with Wiinja Deluxe both of which have the latest updates, SMG has been installed and works fine.

I was wondering if to avoid possible bricking can the same method be used for all games that is used in SMG - ie. run the update and pull the plug 10-25% of the way through (obviously having two discs) one orig and one Brick blocked, would this work or am I missing the point!

Anybody know?

The method that people initially used with SMG may have worked this time round but it still sounds like a risky process, almost like saving an important document on a memory stick and yanking it out of the USB port midway.

Its not a method I would recommend or would ever use. I also have a PAL Wii and always use WiiBrickBlocker to check if the backup is indeed PAL which is a good feature and if it isn't, WiiBrickBlock it. If the game needs the update to run then its not the end of the world. I'd rather wait an extra 2-3 months for a PAL version than risk being £179 down on a bricked console, which may take a while to get replaced.

Remember, best thing to do is always update via the internet to ensure you have the latest firmware so bricking is less likely to occur. If you have doubts about firmware compatibility with your chip, do some research to see if anyone has had any problems (e.g. I have a WiiKey so I'd go to their website and see if they've found any conflicts and also come to AD for the same reason)
