Will backed up games tire your lens faster?

Title says it all. Just got into backing up and would like to know will my xbox last as long as it would if I didnt play backup up games?
Using a Pioneer 112D, and have backed up 4games with AONE 8X Dual Layers. All playing fine (burnt 4X), xbox drive goes a little more quiet when I play on my backed up NFS:ProStreet game (dont know whether this is good or bad sounds like its churning more lol)
I have purchased some Verbatims but for the price I paid im skeptical whether to open them or send them back. Does media really play a big part in your lens tiring out? I know AONEs are very cheap but they are using D01 and seem to be working fine.

you need to read more,this has been said all over. But yes, definitely the type of media has a pretty big impact on the life of the laser. Verbatims are pretty much what everyone here will say to use. Because they are the best quality, they will let you laser have longer life than using the cheaper media available. I would recommend only using verbatims

Being in the US I would also only recommend Verbatims. But I've read a few threads of UK users recommending Aone as Verbatim may be hard to get.
I'd suggest Googling "Aone 360" and reading through some of the results.
But, to answer your question, yes, ALL backups will wear out your laser quicker than just using originals. It's just a matter of which media wears out the laser faster than other media.
Burnable media uses a layer of dye which the information is burnt to. After time, this dye will start to break down. Now, the laser may still be able to read it, but it has to work harder. Eventually, the dye will become unreadable or the laser will have worked itself to death.

I got my 360 when it first came out and since day 1 I have been using these cheap disc that I get for 1 dollar a piece SkMax made by SKC and my 360 is still runnning good. Should I just throw them away and switch to verbatim? I want my box to last as long as possible.

at this point i would say keep using what your using. It would mostly likely cost more for you to go back now, get the Verbatim, and re-copy all of your games then it would just to get a new drive if/when yours goes dead.
It is just something that is recommended for a few simple reasons:
1. good media puts less stress on the laser
2. good media has a longer lifespan for the dye (for instance Verbatim is 10 years)
3. good media is more recognized by more types of burners and drives giving you the best chance for success in both burning them and having the 360 read them.

So all my games will die in 10 years, that sucks :) Its kind of weird when you think about it. Can lasres be replaced easily on 360s or is it a matter of replacing the dvd drive

Yes to both quetsions.
You can buy a new laser and a new drive. A new laser is cheaper but harder to install. A new drive is just as easy as a quick firmware flash and plug it in!

Guys, just enjoy your 360 and don't worry about way down the road if the laser goes out. By that time, there will be the next generation out there and everyone will be getting that one, instead of the 360. Kinda like how no one cares about the Xbox anymore.

LOL, yeah that is the life that they guarantee on the Verbatim. But how many people play the same game for 10 years anyway? By then the Xbox 900 will be out, hahaha.

I've been flashing mainly TS-943's here in the UK, and have found that the UK AOne Dual Layer DVDs have been excellent. The only time that I have had bad backups is because I've done something wrong. It's the same with friends who backup to those discs.
Well worth trying..

thank you very much for the advice guys!!!
Burnt five games using Aone DVDs and the same five games using Verbatims and I can say that the Verbatims appear to be perfect so far! DVD tray doesnt slow down and make that crunching noise it does when it needs to concentrate a lot (does that with the Aones) and it doesnt lag a game at all!
This is gonna be an expensive hobby hehe..... o well, rather 20 for 10 than 40 for 1 :p
Stick to Verbatims guys the Aones make the 360 lens work A LOT harder!

i got my box used and the laser is on its way out, i bought a new drive its on its way. Since i bought mine used i didn't actually flash it meaning i cant flash it easily. I was told i could swap the circuit boards to keep the flash. Is there a tutorial to do that?

I never use anything but the Verbatim.
Yeah... you can always burn your game on a no-name DVD, it will work most of the times.
But it stresses the lens!!
And also when you burn, make sure your hard disk is defragmented and burn at minimum speed possible.
It will take like 40 minutes to burn, but at least it will be quality.
Also it is recomended that you exit all non esential applications on PC before burning.
All this precautins are not for the game to function, but to put minimal stress on the lens. The games will function regardlessly.
