ok so here's the thing, my friend asked me to buy him xbox 360 here in l.a and bring it to him to israel (his tv supports ntsc and everything). He wants the elite version but off course they all sold out of that right now in all stores and only thing availble is 20gb version.

My friend wants to play backup games off course but he wants to do a firmware upgrade and not install a mod chip. My question is which is better? spending extra 100 on a bigger xbox (which i would probably have to get from ebay or craigslist) and upgrade a firmware, or just but a regular version of the xbox and install a mod chip.

One more very important thing. Me and some friends are planning to buy him the Rock Band bundle because it's his birthday as well, and i heard something that if you do a firmware upgrade it's a problem playing original games. and also because of extensive DLC for the game it is important that he will have the ability to go online and download extra songs.

So help me out here, should i try to convince him to go with the mod chip and buy the 20gb version, or try to get the 120gb and just let him upgrade the firmware.
