My Xbox 360 has not been reading my game disks. It will read DVDs sometimes but it is a real pain in the butt to get a game going (20 restarts or more). I read a thread on here that was talking about flashing their consoles... however I am not very tech savvy and was wondering if someone would please explain what "flashing" is and if I could do it myself or had to take it somewhere? Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

that wouldn't help. Flashing a dvd drive is typically used for creating backups of games that you already own so you can play those on the 360 instead of the original. Your laser might be wearing out. If it's an older 360, i might look into getting the drive replaced, but if it's a newer one, I would send it back to be fixed

I have heard of sites that sell replacement parts for your drive, though I havent done any research on this...I know you can buy replacement drives for your 360 (Which is what I'm looking into doin') but recently I've found a site called: www.xboxdummy.com I've sent them an email and got a reply back pretty quick and they said they could get my drive replaced within about 1 and half weeks (They just need the drive, that is if your confortable opening up your 360 and removing your DVD-ROM drive, its hella easy though!) but I want to know how to repair this kinda stuff myself, and from what I've been reading this procedure doesnt seem hard at all, but hey good luck to ya!

is it less then a year old? If so call Microsoft and have them fix it.
If it is older you can:
1. try a pot tweek on your laser
2. try cleaning the laser lens
3. replace the laser
4. replace the whole drive
