ok try this:
open XBC
Load your original into the Samsung DVD-Rom drive and let it spin a bit to read it
Now go to the tools tab and click unlock drive
now see if you can read it under the read tab.

Only other thing i can think is that the drive is not properly flashed and not reading discs like it should.

I would try Schtrom, maybe that will work for you.

Shazam1, read hs post. He tried Schtrom already and neither that or XBC worked.

Just for haha's do this.
Go to control panel->system->hardware tab->device manager
now look under your DVD drive by clicking the little plus sign beside it.
Now just make sure that only the DVD drive/drives that you have are listed. I had a problem once where it somehow put in some scsi controller under that section. And that prevented me from ripping and burning correctly and i got some weird errors. Once i disabled that device (right click and choose disable) then restarted the PC (it will prompt you to do that) then everything went back to normal.

another thing i had change once without doing anything is this.
right click on the start button (not left click like you are gong into the start menu). then choose explore from the drop down. It will pop up a list of all your stuff like the C: drive, my documents folder and so on. There should be a folder for your DVD drive. Right click on that and go to properties. Now go to the recording tab.
make sure the enable this device for recording is checked and that your primary hard drive is listed in the drop down menu as where to store files.

None of that may work but i am just trying to come up with anything i can to possibly get this worked out. Burning and ripping problems that just pop up out of nowhere can really have sooooooo many causes.
