Help with jumpers in D2Ckey

Alright, so I am wondering how setting the jumpers works exactly. Now, the guide I have says

To enter region free compatibility, you will need to close the jumper(s) JP1 and/or JP2 on the D2CKey to match the region of your Wii. If you do not close JP1 or JP2, there will be no region override. Closing JP2 will patch PAL. Closing JP1 will patch USA (NTSC) and if both JP1 and JP2 are closed, this will patch Japan (NTSC).




Ok, so my Wii is from USA. So does that mean I should close JP1 to patch USA? Or am I supposed to patch the region that I want to play backups/originals from? And if I don't close any jumpers, will my console play everything?


In short, what does "patch" mean? What will closing the jumpers do in the long run?

the answer to your question is right on the modchip website under resources. read the fine print underneath the jumper options. that is why nobody answered your question.
