Well, Ive been wondering if I should flash my 360's drive but as Ive been reading here I see theres a lot of talk about different Hitachi drives and stuff, like 78, 79.
And I was wondering, how do I know which drive Ive got?
I already know I got Hitachi, but I dont know which number applies to it...
And, is there a special SATA PCI Card I need or do any work?
Because, I live in norway and Newegg dont ship internationally :(
Thanks In Advance

You will have to open the system to be able to see what version of Hitachi you have! If it's a 79, then you are better off not modding it, because it can be modded, but most people wouldn't be able to do it!

DavGerm3 is right, you pretty much have to open up the box and read the Rom version. You can also check www.360drives.com, but it may not be 100% correct.
As for the SATA card...just find a PCI SATA card that is non-raid (or just don't install the raid drivers) and with chipset VIA 6421. A lot of people on this board like the Syba card, but I've heard the Rosewell also works.
by the way...if you have a Hitachi 78, you may not even need a PCI SATA card. I have the 78, and flashed right off my motherboard's sata connection.

Just found out I have 78, could you describe how you did it?
Or is there already a tutorial on it(I only find those where you need the PCI SATA card.
oh..and also, the stuff with ModeB, is there a way to do this other than the 2wire trick?

Well I sucessfully woided my Xbox 360 warranty, and putt it back together(thats a start atleast ;) )
I tried what tyler1993 said, with connecting it directly to my MB sata connection, did not work(and the drive did not enter ModeB), dont seem like Slax found the drive and neither did my bios so I guess Ill have to get the sata card.
So a huge Thanks to everyone who posted in this thread :)
