Hi all, first thing to say that i'm a noob here - sorry if it sounds like it....

OK, so i got the 360 Elite, with the damn 79FL drive. I took it to an electronics technician with the Maximus Passkey, He soldered the FFC - we got Blue light and all.

Now, no blue light, and worst than that - I got an E64 and the drive won't eject. The connections look good, and assuming that they are connected well - what can be the problem?

How do i know if my drive is bricked? when i disconnect the flat cable from the passkey i still get the E64 and NO EJECT!

p.s. - where can i find a list of the sata cards that can detect the 79 drive?

Thanks...

When you disconnected the flat cable, did you also disconnect the 3.3v connection, if so the drive should boot up correctly. What you could do is make sure there is do bridging between the solder points when you do the soldering. Use a voltmeter to check the points. Even the smallest connection could give you and E64. The via6421A sata card detects the 79fl drive. Sometimes if you have problems detecting the drive even though you get the blue light, use slax iso cd 2.1 to put the drive into mode b. I found that the slax worked every time and the drive would show up in device manager, has a drive letter in windows and you can eject the drive through the pc. good luck bro.

Thanks man. No good news about the SLAX, I tried and it didn't work.

I'm gonna try removing the 3.3V like you told me, any other options of getting this drive to work?
Do you think it may be bricked, or in order to brick i have to flash it first?
And later, ofcourse, i will check that damn soldering points.

It's wierd, because sometimes i do get the blue light and sometimes not... Why can it happen except bad soldering?

Thanks again!
