How to disable RAID?

Hello! I know you have to have RAID disable in order to flash the DVD-ROM drive. I have Hitachi-LG GDR-3120L and VIA 6421-2S1P PCI-card with SATA connectors. But how do I disable RAID from this card? My BIOS has no options related to SATA. Please help.

What do you mean by disable raid, i got mine today, why does it have to be disable.

Ok, I was told that when you connect your DVD-drive to your PC, make sure that SATA ports are in IDE or native mode, not RAID.
I have VIA VT6421 PCI-card and Hitachi-LG 3120L DVD-drive (ROM VER 0078FK). Windows recognizes it as a "SCSI CD-ROM device" and it shows in My Computer but Firmware Toolbox v4.5 can't see it. Is there any other software to flash my Hitachi?
I have Windows XP SP2.

It will probally have a jumper on the card to change the modes.

Maybe at start up you can configure the port in Bios..

I don't have any options related to SATA in my BIOS. Would it be a matter of the Slax's version? I tried with 2.84 but someone said it has to be 2.0 alpha. But where can I find that?
The drive seems not to be in Mode B. I think that is the problem.

Now I changed to different SATA port and got it to mode B but Windows crashes when loading. Pressing the eject button doesn't help. If I change the cable to a different port, Windows starts but soon it gives me a bluescreen. What can I do?

i have a hitachi 78. used Slax 2.1 and my onboard sata connectors. the hitachi can be "seen" by many chipsets, so try your onboard sata connectors first. used maximus 4.5 toolbox with no problems at all. just make sure to follow all the instructions about when to turn on what, opening/closing while windows bar is loading, etc.... search for the "textbook" tutorial if you are not familiar with what i am saying. goodluck.

Yes I used Slax 2.1 to set mode B. I don't have onboard SATA connectors. That's why I bought PCI-card. I couldn't upgrade my motherboard because I'd have to buy a new processor then.

check for a jumper on the card. if its not there, then you will have to uninstall the drivers. restart, then reinstall. when the box comes up asking what you want to install, make sure the via raid utilities box is unchecked, then install. this has always worked for me. as far as i know the raid ability is still installed, its just not on. hopefully that works for you.
