GDR-8160b + rawdump not working

I just picked up a Compaq branded GDR-8160B. It's been put through its paces backing up video DVD's and is working great. It's set up as the slave on the secondary controller. BIOS is set to PIO4, UDMA3. Windows is recognizing that the drive is using UDMA Mode 3.

When I try to run Rawdump 2.0, it will spin the disc for a second and then bomb out, saying the drive may be faulty. Before I click "OK" I see that Rawdump has recognized that the disc IS a wii disc.

I have tried hitting "start dump" and then immediately closing the DVD tray as I've seen suggested in other posts, here. Wiible has posted that he's had success with this particular model of drive.

So what gives? Why isn't this working?

PS - WinXP with SP2, .Net Framework 2.0 is installed, too.
