I recovered it at my mates house earlier today and when I went to recover it back on my own xbox it gives me this error: "xbox live signup not avaliable"

help?

try it a few times, if it still doest work, go get a memory card.

I do it all the time between my two consoles. but dont get me wrong. this stuff is all made by microsoft. thy also say you can put any hard drive in any system and it will work, and i know from experience this is not the case. But i can tell you, i use a memory card to transfer my account, and i havent had any issues with it.

It looks like everyone is getting this problem, the exact same thing happend to me YESTERDAY TOO!!! I had recovered my GT about a week ago at a friend's house, and only got back on XBL last night, I tried to sign into my profile and it said something about it not being valid, so I thouht it might be because Id just recovered it at a friend's o I tried to recover it here and got the 'xbox sign up is currently not available, please try again later' message, and tried several times, I then called my friend and asked him to try and recover my gamertag on his console (just to see if it would work) and he got the same message, so I think the problem is totally with the server and we've just gotta wait it out, unless you want to call MS and ask them whats going on?

mmk, I'll try iy out soon then, btw, did you lose any data? like acheivmentsthat you'd gotten before it happend, or gamer points or saved data? cause I'm crapping myself, cause of hours of 'Dead Rising' and all the acheivments I'd gotten, (lvl 38) and I just beat Assassin's Creed too... which is pretty friggin hard!
