So Heres What i Did So Far,
I Wiped my harddrive,(with Drive Scrubber)
afterthat,
I inserted the windows xp disk,
i chose the quick format,
it went through,
now my problem is,
my harddrive letter is diffrent,
instead of c:
its I:
so when i try to install my drivers or anything its looks for drive C:
not I:
so now does that mean ill just have to go back to vista,
See i have a e machines,
T5230 with windows vista,
and i bought the recovery dvd from them,
so i can go back to vista if i have too,
but i figure i would try to downgrade to xp,
because xp is much better than vista,

all im curious is is thier anyway i can change my harddrive letter back to C:

oyeah btw,
since i said my harddrive letter is (as of now I:)
it listed C: as a removable drive(wich is my one of my meda reader slots) is thier anyway to switch the letters,
or did i install windows Xp wrong?

anyway help is appreciated Thanks,
stan

there are only 2 programs that I have used to change drive letters on windows xp. "avanquest partition commander version 10" and "paragon justboot corrector". Both have a boot cd that can boot up the computer and get into the windows xp registry to change drive letters. With either program it takes about 5 minutes to change the drive letters.

But one thing to remember is, if you originally installed windows xp on "I" drive, if you change it to "C" drive it might not boot up. With the above programs, you can try releasing all the drive letters on your dvd rom's, card readers etc. The only one that matters is the system drive letter. Just label your system drive "C" and reboot, during bootup windows will automatically assign the rest of the drive letters. If that doesn't bootup, just change it back to "I".

well i figured it out,
see,
i rewiped my drive and tried Xp Pro,
but it works with home also,
you have to pick the long format not the quick format,
that will take longer but,
will change the drive letter,
so i figured that out,
now my other problems is this,
im aving trouble finding Xp drivers,
because my comp was Origional Vista,
the drivers on the emachines site are for vista only,

So far i got theres drivers installed CORRECTLY and are working,

Description NVIDIA Video Driver
File Type Original Driver
Version 7.15.11.5816
Operating System Windows Vista

(even though its vista, its still working)

Audio
Description Realtek High Definition Audio Driver
File Type Original Driver
Version 6.0.1.5397
Operating System Windows Vista
(this one is vista but works)

Modem
Description Data Fax and Speaker Phone Modem Driver
File Type Original Driver
Version 7.60.00.00
Operating System Windows Vista
(this one works also)

Media Reader
Description Media Card Reader Driver
File Type Original Driver
Version 2.01.02.02
Operating System Windows Vista
(that one works also)

Now this one im having Trouble with Its for vista and will not work with xp,maybe if i can find a xp driver, but so far all i can find is a vista driver

Network
Description NVIDIA Network Driver
File Type Original Driver
Version 65.5.5
Operating System Windows Vista

i dont even kno where to look for a xp driver for this, maybe thiers ot a xp driver for this,
i dont kno but,if theres not then that really sux,
cuzz thats the network driver to use my eathernet card,
Rightnow i have a wireless network so im on a wireless network antenna card(witch works) but,
if i was to move and had to use that network card and not being able to,that would really stink,

all help is appreciated,
thanks,
Stan

I Forgot to add,
that when i start to install it,
it had me restart the computer,
after it restarts it searches for the hardware,
and here is the error message it gives me,

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware,
The driver maybe corrupted or missing(code 33)

im thinking that its because i havent updated my windows yet to service pack2its updating right now,
so if i finally get it to work ill let you guys kno,
but i think i just need a xp driver for it,

all help is appreciated
thanks,
Stan

Drive scrubber is not free,
i bought it at compusa,
Its for people who want to earase(securley) earase files,
like a 1x wipe all the way to a 35x wiple/pass methoid,

the reason why i bought it was because i had a virus on my computer(old computer) a bad one,and porn, and wired files were appearing, and i wanted to make sure they were permenently gone,

now for the windows xp/vista thing,
Hnostly to me,When i went back and installed windows xp,after not using it for awhile, and i fully updated it,
it was more buggier than vista, and gave me more problems,
so i wiped my hard drive, and im going to install vista back on with the system disk i got,
so i have no problems,

Thanks for all your help and time :)
