I have opened my xbox 360 and I have the Benq VAD6038 drive and need to find the stuff to flash it with. If someone could tell me where to find the ixtreme flash stuff and maybe a tutorial on where to get everything I need. I have seen much about this drive but would like to backup the games I own cause my kid keeps tearing them up.

I got a hold of the ixtremev1.1 multispeed flash stuff but it asks me to put the orig.bin into the folder but I dont have that. Can I boot from a memory card instead of a usb flash drive? and also what do I need to boot in dos with? I want to put that on the memory card as well.

ok before I go taking the xbox 360 apart again I want to make sure that I have this all straight.
DosFlash v1.2beta-check
BenQ iXtreme v1.1 Multispeed
is this all I need and what speed do I use?

go to 360 mods, they have a tutorial called "benqflashmanual". its a pdf. download that and follow the instructions. so far that has worked for me, both times i have used it.

Dosflash 1.2 won't flash a BENQ without cutting traces on the BenQ. Use Dosflash 1.3 beta

1.4 beta is the newest version on xbins, so i imagine it will do the job just fine, they wouldnt release it if it wasnt better.

well, jsut look for benqflashmanual.pdf, you are sure to find it somewhere. or xbins might have it, i havent checked there, but if you know how to use it, it would prolly be there.

I tried to flash it today...no go the flash didnt work. When I hooked it up to the TV it gave me eroor code E-65 which meant the dvd drive wasnt flashed right. I went back and flashed it with my original benq flash file I got off the drive before I flashed it and its working again but not for the backups :(

these are the steps I followed
Soft Flashing the BenQ in Windows XP with a VIA card or NForce motherboard and DosFlash32
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- connect a separate power supply unit to the BenQ, don't turn it on yet (can be XBOX360 or
Xecuter Connectivity Kit)
- don't use the Xecuter Kit to power the drive with the same psu as your computer, cause we
need to power the drive off and on during soft flashing
- cold reboot or reset the computer
- turn on the BenQ psu when you are in Windows XP
- start DosFlash32
- DosFlash32 will ask you if you wanna resend the mtk vendor intro cmd, press Yes
- turn off the BenQ psu and wait 2 or more seconds
- turn on the BenQ psu, the DosFlash32 dialog should show up
- the flash should be recognized by DosFlash32
- you can now read, write or erase the flash
- you should be able to do the flashing more than one time in Windows, only do the power
off/on trick again
- if the ports are scanned there is the possibility that you'll get the resend question for
other drives like a NEC, this is because the NEC has no MTK chip and returns a bad status,
if you know the NEC is at that port you should press No and press Yes only if the port of
the BenQ is shown or simply disconnect the NEC
