360 will not play games

My xbox 360 will not play games. It will read movies fine, but it will not read original xbox games or 360 games. Any ideas?
Oh yeah, the 360 is not modded.

Sometimes mine wont read my backups but it only does it when it gets hot. I just have to put a fan on it for a while and then it will read them. I know you said that yours wasnt modded but its just an idea. You might also want to try a DVD lens cleaner disc. That helps out also.

It has no problems reading them. It will read the disc like the 360 is a computer. (It says to put the disc in an xbox, like its not in one.)
Its a brand new drive i just put in because the other one completely stopped working.
I'm thinking maybe more of a software issue, but who knows.

did you flash the new drive with your old drives key? i think you might have to as each drive is 'paired' with its own mother board. i know if you replace a drive ona modded console with a new one you have to flash it with the old drives origonal bin/fw so i would assume its the same thing in your case.

It's that the 360 key doesn't match the dvd drive. If they are the same drive just replace the motherboard from the old drive onto the new one.

Hey Nate, I got a similar problem, my 360 displays "Can't Read Media". I want to know if you know what this could be.

Adol, i have no clue what this is.
wabashman, how would i flash the drive?
I'm kinda new to this. My xbox dvd drive quit working, so i bought a new one on ebay, and installed it. I did not flashed it or anything, i just plugged it in. Is this why its not working?

Ummm, Did you read anything else? If you don't have the same drive, You HAVE to get the 360 key from the old dvd drive!!!!! Next time read more mmmmkayyy????

Mine is doing the same thing as well......I get that white screen also , my 360 is under a year old and hasn't been Modded....

just today my xbox started doing this also it reads movies but not games im not sure why its doing this either. my dvd drive is flashed also and my xbox is only a week or two old.

you have to get the orig.bin from your old drive, flash it to your new drive, you should have this saved somewhere when you origonally flashed the drive.

ok I am brand new to this and I am in the same situation, old disk drive quit. Replaced it with a new one and now it does not play games. It gives me that same Xbox 360 message. I need detailed step by step information. Like how to get this old bin or key or what ever it is from the old disk drive and how do I change the new disk drive bin to the old one. Oh and no swaping out the boards between the two drives did not work, the old board still did not respond to the open and close command.
