my psp is updated to 3.50 firmware right now.
I don't wanna go any further because i heard u cant downgrade from 3.52 and up. Is that true???

and i wanted to upgrade because 3.7 and up can do custom themes so that was really tempting but im goin to wait for the downgrader for 3.7

i dont wanna brick my psp but im kinda new to the whole codes and downgrading stuff, im smart but im still a newbie to some psp stuff so like what can i do with my psp thats pretty cool like custom firmwares and stuff what are those

lol i know i sound like a retarded newbie

3.71 M33 can do the custom themes and all. You can't on OFW 3.71. Now that you're on 3.50, you have to downgrade. You have two options:

Downgrade using Lumines HERE

or

Downgrade using Pandora's Battery HERE or the hardmod method HERE.

If you use the Lumines procedure, you'll be at 1.50.

You'll have to upgrade to 3.52 M33-4 then 3.71 M33.

If you use the first Pandora's Battery method, it'll automatically go to 3.71 M33-2 (the two is just a small upgrade for 3.71 M33; the new upgrade is 3.71 M33-3).

You can use Pandora's Battery from any firmware. You can use the Lumines way if you have the game.

I suggest doing it the Lumines way because its probably cheaper. I mean unless you have a friend with custom firmware...

Edit: The lumines way is also easier IMO

I agree but once you make a Pandora's Battery (using this guide HERE), you can use it forever to unbrick any PSP to upgrade to CFW 3.71 M33-2 from any firmware.

Lumines is just a one time thing but you're still partly right. :)

The rest is your decision smrt_gamr!

Read my posts, man!

You'll be at 1.50 and you'll have to upgrade to 3.52 M33-4 and then 3.71 M33-3. You can only get to 3.71 M33-3 by first being at 3.52 M33-4.

If you use the Lumines way, once you're at firmware 1.50, use the guide to get to 3.71 M33-3 HERE.

There is nothing on previous firmwares that isnt on 3.71 M33.
3.71 M33 allows you to play the latest games also.

You can always go back to OFW but no one would ever do such a thing. There can be bricks with anything but it's rare with homebrew. Plus, 3.71 M33-3 has themes, homebrew, emulators, ISOs/CSOs...

So, sorry to jump in with a question. I am presently at 3.52 m33-4 Am I understanding that ANYTHING I have working on here will still work if I upgrade to 3.71 m33? Thanks for any clarification!

Anything and everything will work and more. If you wanna upgrade, I suggest you use this guide (forget the first part, it's for upgrading to 3.52 M33-4, read the part for upgrading from 3.52 M33-4 to 3.71 M33-3): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/569454

Thanks BTFan! Upgraded to 3.71 m33-3. Now, am I correct in thinking that even if I were to format the memory stick, I wouldn't screw up the CFW right? Just curious

No, you can do whatever you want, format, break, the CFW will always work unless you want to downgrade which no one will ever do from 3.71 M33-3.

you can use ur battery and then convert it back to normal, so when u use the UPMS, dont forget to choose "backup eeporm.bin" in option 2.

if you forget doing that, you can "install fake serial" but the abttery can be buggy afterwards.

Sorry Drakex...didn't mean to hijack the thread. One more quick question....can a UPMS be backed up like a normal MS? Wondering if it works to copy the contents to the harddrive and back without screwing anything up?
