hello everyone im fairly new to psp hacking so i have a couple of questions. first off i have read the other threads but they havent helped me. My problem is that i have a TA082 with 2.6fw from what ive read i need 2.71 to use the easy downgrader, however the only newer official fw i can get is the 3.73 which i doubt will work for this. my question is can i use the 2.6 or whats my best option.

now moving on to my second question, ive been seeing these custom firmwares . most people talk about updating to that straight from 1.5, my question is will it still have the same features as 1.5. what im interested mostly is homebrews and backups.

Thanks in Advance for all the help!!

The easiest and safest way to go to custom firmware is using a Pandora Battery + Universal Unbricker. You will need a custom firmware PSP to create this. So if you have a PSP that has custom firmware on it or know a friend or family member that does then go HERE and use the guide to create the Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick that will install 3.71 M33-2 straight to your PSP.

Using this option will bypass all the below steps that you will need to take if you do the downgrade and upgrade manually. If you don't have a PSP with custom firmware or don't know someone that has 1 then you can use the below steps to manually downgrade/upgrade to a custom firmware.

------------------------------------------

Directions to manually downgrade/upgrade to custom firmware:

The official 2.71 firmware is located HERE.

Download the 2.71 official firmware and rename it to EBOOT.PBP (Just delete the 8046_ part of the name) then create a folder and name it UPDATE. Now drag the EBOOT.PBP file to the UPDATE folder then drag the UPDATE folder to the /PSP/GAME folder on the PSP Memory Stick.

Go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the 2.71 update.

After you have updated the PSP to 2.71 go HERE and follow the guide for -2.71 PSP (TA-82 or TA-86)

After you have downgraded to 1.50 I recommend updating to a custom firmware. Custom firmware have both the advantages of 1.50 kernel and latest kernels. So homebrew and ISO/GAMES will work with custom firmware.

The 2 most popular custom firmwares at this time is 3.52 M33-4 or 3.71 M33-3 with 1.50 ADD ON-2.

Go HERE to update to 3.52 M33-4 (after you have downgraded to 1.50)

Go HERE to install 3.71 M33-2 + 1.50 ADD ON-2 (after you have updated to 3.52 M33-4. This is a requirement to install 3.71 M33). Make sure you install the 1.50 ADD ON-2 so 1.50 kernel homebrew will run.

Now go HERE and download the 3.71 M33-3 update. Extract the file and just drag the UPDATE folder to the /PSP/GAME folder then go to Game Menu memory Stick and run the 3.71 M33-3 update.

You are now updated with the latest M33 custom firmware.

After you have updated to whatever custom firmware you want to use format your Memory Sticks (make sure any files you want saved is backed up on your PC) this will allow new folder directories to be created.

Also go HERE to get your ISO/CSO games working properly from memory Stick.

Place homebrew that requires 1.50 kernel in the GAME150 folder and place homebrew that requires 2.XX or higher into the GAME folder.

Hello again, having a bit of trouble. ive upgraded it to 2.71 and was in the process of downgrading but when ever i start hen d the processor light just blinks rapidly for a couple of seconds and then the psp freezes. my volume and power buttons work but i cant get to the 1.5 enabler in the memstick. also the little loading circle in the bottom right is still working and just keeps acting as if its loading something.

thanks again

Make sure the battery charge level is 75% or higher.

Then run HEN-D the easiest way to do this is to go to photo then slideshow.

Make sure you go into the System Settings and see that HEN-D is running.

If it is then go to 1.50 Enabler and run it.

You might want to start fresh and format your memory Stick and Re-add the files to the memory Stick if your still having issues.
