Fake memory stick question

I been told by some friends that their memory sticks were fake after they went to the psp and saw "unknown" under the magicgate section, but they said it still works fine and all...

so my question is what exactly does the fake memory stick limit as opposed to a real legitimate one?

It just won't work well. For example, it won't work with Pandora's Battery. Just go for example in the Video section in your PSP, press Triangle and then Information. If it says "Magic Gate: Supported" then it's legit if it says "Magic Gate: Not Supported" or "Unknown" then it's fake. Usually, fake Memory Stick Duos are bought from the internet like eBay or Amazon.

so it wont work aswell, but it will still work if im just gonna use it for music/videos and put some games on it? maybe just a little slower and a little less capacity space?

No it might just not work well or very laggy and slow. You'll notice it.

also just a side question, do the memory stick require the adapator that usually comes with them to use in the psp? or is the size without the adaptor good enough?

ive got 2 fake 4gb memory sticks from ebay, besides the transfer speed from comp to psp being slower than the real one, everything works fine

Maybe you because you only use it for minor legal stuff.

And from your sig, I can see you're on OFW 3.71. Downgrade using Pandora's Battery HERE. Pandora's Battery allows you to unbrick any PSP or upgrade a PSP from any firmware to the new custom firnmware 3.71 M33-2 (where you can play ISOs, homebrew, theme...). I put it in bold because that's your case. And you can always turn the battery back to normal. Use the guide, just click where it says "HERE" in blue.

so for a fake with games on the memory stick, it will really slow the game down when playing from the stick? and adaptor required to fit into psp or not?

It just won't work with ISOs. And the adapter won'tfit in the PSP, just for some Sony cameras.

nope im on CFW 3.71 m33-2

im playin iso games and it seems to work fine (no lag), ive comparend my 1gb real memory stick and my fake 4gb and i cant seem to tell the difference in speed, just buy from a power seller

edit: dont buy from HK sellers they are a rip and they have a higher chance of failing
