Hi,
can someone please check that these are the correct steps to take from opening the case of the 360.
1. Place grounding clips from PC case to 360 case
2. Power down everything with the slax 2.1 disc in the PC
3. Unplug the 360 SATA cable and plug in the PC?s Sata Cable
4. Make sure the video cable and power cables are in the 360 and the power cable is supplying power to the 360 and the drive.
5. Boot the PC from the slax 2.1
6. Power on the 360
7. eject the 360 drive if the ?spinning up disc? error in slax comes up
8. wait til slax has finished
9. check for mode B by pressing the eject button twice/flashing 360 LED/Ejects itself
10. Reset the PC and remove the slax 2.1 disc and boot to windows
11. eject the 360 drive a few times when the widows bar appears
12. Boot into windows as normal
13. Put an original DVD in the 360 drive, then close the tray by pressing the eject button 3 times
14. Wait for PC to autoplay the DVD to check the drive is detected.
15. Go to Firmware Toolbox and select direct drive dump
16. select the 0078fk DVD drive and select RAW Dump firmware As
17. Save the original firmware in a folder as ?original?
18. Select YES on checksum Validation
19. hopefully will say firmware dumped is fine, so you want to open now? Then select YES
20. Copy the drive KEY into a word document and save it as your original 0078fk drive key.
21. when that?s saved go on Tool> Smart hack Patcher
22. Select Ok on the warning about original firmware
23. Browse and save an output file and save as ?hacked? or similar filename.
24. Select a rule set for which firmware you want to upgrade to.
25. select generate file and when that?s successfully generated select Yes on ?do you want to open this now?
26. select Tools>Direct Drive Flash>Differential Flash (PATCH)
27. Select your 0078fk DVD drive
28. Select ?Read Drive and Detect Differences?
29. hit start flashing
30. Select Ok on ?All sectors flashed?
31. Save your folder with the hacked and original drive firmware for backup purposes.
32. Close down the 360 Firmware Toolbox
33. Take out your original DVD and power-off the 360
34. Unplug the PC?s Sata able and plug in the 360?s motherboard SATA cable.
35. Power cycle the xbox twice, turn on the 360 with the tray open and wait for tit o automatically close. Then turn off the 360 again and turn it back on
36. Hopefully have a working 360 that plays backups!
These are the steps I have taken in my own words from the tutorials and watching the videos. I would just like someone to read through them and check if im missing anything or if these seem the right way. these are the steps i will be taking PROVIDING nothing gos wrong or gives me an error.
