Good question! I would like to know the same thing.

My guess is that it does sound feasable, but you would think that if that was possibel we would of heard about something like this already.

Thanks for the question

I often thought about this with the WiiKey, as I had and still have a slight fear that Nintendo will put a bad WiiKey flash in one of their disk updates, and also it would be undetectable (when it was off).

It's my understanding (based on what I read on the psx-scene forums) that if you wire enough of the d2ckey up and don't apply power, the wii won't fire up properly. Some folks were disheartened when they were installing these and doing half-installs and testing every few pins.

Put the switch inline to the Z line disabling the clock so the power LED for the D2CKey will remain eluminated letting you know it is installed and works, a little more trick. And yes we have been discussing this over at PSX-Scene. The power line might work as well but as one has mentioned at the scene it might disable the console so you would have to try it since I haven't. I would think you can and suggested that as an alternative to the Z point but for sure the Z point will work and I think is the best way to go.

You shouldnt have to to ever worry about that type of custom install because the D2ckey is never present in the Wii's memory making it undetectable.

You do need to worry just because it is encrypted doesn't mean they won't circumvent the D2CKey's coding. Obviously you haven't been around long or you just believe all marketing BS you encounter.

Nintendo will buy these chips to crack the encryption or at least learn of a way to disrupt their operation. It won't matter that they are so called stealth.

Smell the coffee?

Nintendo already has messed with the wiikey... All it needed was updated firmware to fix it's issues.

And I have read that the d2ckey is flashable, it's just nobody knows the exact procedure yet and won't know unless that time comes.

Flashing the D2CKey is old news there is a JTAG pin pad on the back side of it but encryption will make it difficault to flash unless they package the firmware & encryption key in a self flashing tool, which they could do.

Ur reply is funny.
The d2ckey is less than 5 months old yet info about it is already old.

I thought that was funny.

Well anyways.. Still info is better than no info
