I have burned close to a dozen DVD+R discs with imgburn and half the movies I have watched so far either freeze throughout the film or have distorted images . Anyone experience this also because this program is given excellent reviews with most of the users and it does work but could it be if it's not the program that's buggy maybe it's the downloads ? I can't see why continuing to burn discs with this if the movies don't come out right.

What speed are you burning at? Image burn IMOP s oneof the best burning engines out.A little more info would help.

Hi

1) burn no faster than 4x
2) update firmware on burner
3) use good media as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim (Made in Japan)
4) If using dvd+r booktype to dvd-rom
5) make sure burner is good

What file format are you downloading and what are you doing to it before you open up ImgBurn?
Any other programs in your process?

Along with iluvendo's suggestions and an answer to Deadrum33, i guess my only other question would be are you multi-tasking?

What steps do you go through to update the firmware on a DVD+RW burner? My burner is almost a year and a half years old and never been updated , and I always format the sony DVD+R discs using VSOdivxtoDVD using the aspect raio 4:3 and standard NTSC and burning speed always 4x .Right after opening imgburn I place the empty disc into the tray and go through the steps and sometimes I have another program like Utorrent going while doing this so maybe this messes things up . Sometimes one of the last things i,m asked is what files am I using and I choose all files when burning a avi or divx file to a disc. Does it sound like changing the booktype to DVD-ROM would help because my drive is a DVD+RRW ?

Can you prove that every video works, opening it with windows media, vlc player or similar program before you burn it?
Make sure your original file is good, let your favorite program transcode it to a DVD format, then check it again before you burn it and see which step has the problem.

taking bets??

£1 on µtorrent going while burning (and probably loads of other things like browser.. limewire.. skype).. read/write cycles across the drive bus .. that and possibly roxio installed somewhere.

upgrade DivxtoDVD to ConvertXtoDVD.. because not every avi is divx  and please.. just try turning everything else off.. making your dvd iso and burning it. That's the secret to good dvd making.

we seem to be getting close to a major anniversary

just to add to all the great help here...

set convertxtodvd lower from default output size, say 4300 so as not to burn to outer edge of dvdr (helps on "el cheapo" media discs) jerky playback is usually sad media that just cant cope.

YES BOOKTYPE THOSE +R to DVD-ROM (more like original dvd's, more compatible)

what is the maker/dye info of your dvdr's, they may be the fault

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

There's a couple different ways to go about doing this. You can go to the manufacturer's (of your burner drive) site and look up your exact model and see what firmware is available.
The easiest way to check it/update is to Run ImgBurn,>tools>drive>check for firmware updates.
