I am having problems with my fat 3.71fw PSP. i have looked around for a solution to my problem but all the answers i have found have not worked for me.

i have a fat PSP with an un written on motherboard, behind my battery it says PSP-1001 and a date code of 5B. i have run the TOTALNewbi install on my 128mb Scandisk Pro Duo memory card and have had it completely install options 1 and 4, i watched the whole install and everything said OK.

i made my pandoras battery using the Pin-Lift method and when i put it in the battery slot, the green light comes on automatically. however, the lights do not light up to show the memory stick being accessed and i get no menu or action of any kind aside from the green light. i put the 1.50 V2 kernel update where i was instructed (PSP\GAME\UPDATE). i have attempted to use the left trigger to no effect.

i'm fresh out of ideas.

PsP Root Files as Follows:

-PSP (-GAME (installer, battery creator, and UPDATE(1.5 kernel addon v2)))
-registry (-system.dreg (128 kb) -system.ireg (15 kb))
-kd (55 items inside this folder having a total of 1.11 mb)
-UPDATE (the 1.50 update eboot)
-371.PBP ( im assuming the 3.71 m33)
-msipl.bin (236 kb)

I have no idea

LOl that sounds like the exact same problem I had. What happened was, was that my Memory Stick didn't have the correct files on it at first. I used the TotalNewbi installer on my 2GB Sandisk MS to create MMS. You have to extract everything that's rar'd or zipped then run the installer. You also have to select the correct drive your psp is in while in USB mode. You made the battery right which is good, you just need to fix the MS.

i have just noticed that when the TOTALNewbi installer is writing my msBoot the target Disk is 3 and not 1. does this have any affect on the boot priority of my MMS?

First off it is against the rules to bump a thread.

All you should have to do is START the easy installer.

When it ask for the drive letter make sure it is your PSP drive letter. Type Y and return when it ask if you want to format the drive.

After it formats it tells you to take out the Memory Stick then disable USB. Then it says to insert the memory Stick and enable the USB (Make sure you do these steps).

Now when it gets to the menu to select what files to install just select option 4 in the list. This will install the Universal Unbricker V3 files to Memory Stick which will install straight to 3.71 M33-2 custom firmware.

If it did it correctly you should get something like below come up...

If you want the 1.50 ADD ON-2 place the UPDATE folder of the ADD ON-2 into the /PSP/GAME folder.

Then download the 1.50 EBOOT.PBP file and rename it to 150.PBP and place it into the root of the memory Stick.

Now place the Magic memory Stick into your PSP then add the Pandora battery and the menu should come up.

If you follow those steps and it still doesn't work then more then likely it is a Memory Stick issue. Try using a different Memory Stick.

Also there should be no need to extract all files in the easy installer. Just extract the easy installer itself. The Easy installer will extract the other files if needed automatically.
