Just a quick question, is ixtreme v1.2 the latest firmware version for the hitachi drive? I've heard talk of v1.3 but not sure if its for the hitachi or not.

latest for hitachi is iXtreme 1.2 that is in the Maximus Toolbox 4.5

no problem. goodluck with your flash. although i have not 100% confirmed this, i believe, at present time, the only way to flash the hitachi 78s is through the use of the toolbox. so....when seeking an updated ixtreme firmware, always look for an updated version of the toolbox.
