Hi,

(I've cross posted to the Xecuter forums, but there's very little traffic there)

I'm trying to find "any" assistance on the Blaster360 NE. I got it last week, and installed it no problem (tested....originals work no problem).

i'm now ready to mess with the firmware.

The package came with no instructions, and on the xecuter site the FAQ for the Blaster360 NE says "Coming soon", and all the discussion is around Hitachi and Samsung drives..

What switches should i use for the BenQ drive?

I already have a bootable USB drive setup with IPrep....just don't want to flip the wrong switches on the NE and fry something... Got all the files from xbins....read quite a bit on lots of forums.
I can disconnect my HD and CD Rom from my computer, do a clean boot from my usb into IPrep...no problems.....Last step is to connect the 360 to my PCS via SATA (on an NVidia Nforce 4 MB).....and flash.

I"ve tried afterdawn forums, searched google....nothing....

Questions i have: (For BenQ and the Blaster360 NE)
1. Mode switch - On or Off?
2. When (if at all do i use the eject button)?
3. When (if at all do i use the power switch)?

About the only thing that i've figured out is that i want both switches to the XBOX360 when i'm using the 360.

I'd like to see if someone has a real quick walkthrough of what you need to do if you have the BenQ..

Thanks,
Rez

Flashing the Benq is along the lines of flashing a Samsung. You do it in DOS.

I don't use a Blaster but looked at the mode pictures on their site. You'd want to use the "Blaster 360 NE PC Mode - ModeB Off (Samsung)"

If it's going to work with a Benq, this would be the mode to use.

i used dosflash 16 for my ixtreme firmware on the benq..

also, i just opened up my box and ran a sata cable from my vt sata pci card to the dvd drive on my 360.. worked fine... you dont need a blaster 360... as often as you have to update firmware its not worth it... +++ after opening up a 360 once, youll be able to do it blindfolded next time in about 1 minute...

good luck..

I agree with PSea... it's not worth the money. But, that's just my opinion so I didn't mention it before. Hey... to each their own, right?.

If the money doesn't matter it's good. Also, if you're using an aftermarket case then it'd be good. I had an XMC Black Knight case. The first time I removed the faceplate a couple of tabs broke off. Those cases are crap.

Or if you have a 360 with a Samsung drive, then the Blaster would be useful. You wouldn't need the Samsung/Kreon pc drive to make backups. You could just use the 360.

Thanks for all the replies.

I got it working this morning (first attempt).
First i made about 3 backups..just to be safe (and verified in toolbox).

Used iPrep with the 1.4....no problems.

Blaster360NE settings
ModeB = Off
Power = On
Switch = PC

I do not seem to be able to get the BENQ drive flashed with the blaster 360. I can get the device detected in the bios, but when using iprep, the hex codes are all different and it never reads the firmware.

Intro failed - 0xFE00 (port 0)

Status 0x7f

(toggle power first time)
0xff
(toggle power second time)
0x80

This is also the case when I manually use the dosflash command. I unplugg all my devices and have the 360 connected to port 0.

Any ideas?
