Lost hitachi 78 firmware and key

Ok so I flashed my 78 using firmware toolbox 4.0 awhile ago and now i have no key or firmware. Is there any way to recover those. (my dirve is currently working) only incase there is an update.

you can (and should immediately) use toolbox to do a raw firmware dump. the drive key will be in there. as for the original firmware...i believe the new toolbox (v4.5) has the firmwares for the 78fk in there.

hey thanks or the reply. However when i opened it up it asked me to select 1 there are like 4 different 78 firmwares. should i just guess and see how it goes? this may brick my drive but i should be able to test in using windows right? since it is in mode b already.

Okay so how do I go about flashing this again. I learned I can retrieve my xbox 360 key from the hacked firmware already on the box. But how will I flash it. Your supposed to recover the original firmware but how will I do this? Can I just put the key into the new hacked firmware and flash that one?. Any help would be appreciated.

you'll need to do a "restore". read the tutorial that comes with the toolbox to explain how to do the restore. once you restore your original firmware, you just go through the normal flashing process.

as for your other question...there are multiple 78fk firmwares. once you extract out the drive key, there should be something by the box that has the drive key that talks about "where" it was extracted from. something with 4 or so characters like "4B00" or something like that. match that with the firmware from the toolbox.
