Hello, after a couple of months with a broken ps2 slim (disc would not spin) I found the solution a couple hours ago in the forum. The rear sensor was ripped out of the board and I used the aluminum foil method discussed here.

I tried it and it worked! but with all the excitement I forgot to unplug the AC power and the piece of aluminum foil slipped and touched the copper area that is close to the switch, and I instantly had a spark! Now the unit still has the red light on front but when I press power on, the led goes green and back to red again in less than one second. I probably blew up a fuse, or is the motherboard dead for good?

You grounded the live connection when the aluminium foil touched the gold contact on the board, this most likely blew a fuse as you have said, look for a fuse labelled PS1 on the underneath of your motherboard, it is most probably the one that is blown, if its not this one, google up a fuse diagram for whatever version of the slimline you have, and check all the fuses for continuity using a multimeter, or let me know what version you have, and I will get a diagram up for you.

Hi, thanks for the fast reply and the advices. I have a scph-70004 and found the fuse diagram.
I tested all the fuses and the one that does not work is ps15, the biggest and the closest to the point i made the ground pass. I used a small copper wire taken from a network cable to pass the fuse and now i have continuity but the problem isn't solved. However i did not removed the burned fuse or assembled the board, the battery and the optical system are disconnected. does a ps2two boots normally whihout them?

It does boot correctly without them, however you should not bypass a fuse using a copper wire as it might cause un-repairable damage to the board. Is the ps15 fuse the only one that is not working?

Yes, only one is not working. And the copper wire, i just used it for testing. If it started to work, i was thinking in using it permanently, but that didn't helped.
Thanks for your effort in helping me.

EDIT: Sorry for the delay in the reply, I'm subscribed to this threat but the warning mail came with 36h delay.
