Ok, I currently am running Windows Vista Home Premium edition. When I got my pc over the summer, I thought I got the 64 bit edition, but somehow ended up with the 64 bit. I am thinking about upgrading to ultimate, and have noticed that a lot of sites say that ultimate has both the 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems on one package, as opposed to either buying a 32 bit or 64 bit package of the home premium edition. I was just wondering if this was true, or if they did come in two seperate packages that I would have to choose when buying like home premium.

and if it is true, since i am running the 32 bit version of home premium, will it automatically upgrade to ultimate with the 32 bit version?

thanks! lol, the main reason I want to run 64 bit is because with 32 bit you cant use more than 4gb of ram, and I was thinking about getting 8gb of ram.

If all you want is 8GB then all you really need is Windows Vista Basic 64 bit version.

well i definatly dont want basic, there is nothing in that os. and since i would be upgrading, i was just going to go ahead and upgrade to ultimate. you are saying the 64 bit has the potential to run 128 GB of ram? thats insane.
