The guide talks about appropriate downgraders depending on what version firmware you have. Problem is, I don't know what version I currently have, nor do I have the PSP box it came in to check.

My question is: I have the 1.50 firmware downloaded, can I just copy it to my psp and overwrite? Or do I need to find out what version I have and get the appropriate downgrader? If so, what is another way to find out what current version firmware your psp is using?

Go to System Settings then System Information and tell us what it says under System Software.

You will need to use a Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick. That is your only option.

Do you have or have a friend that has a Custom Firmware PSP?

You will either need to get a PSP that has custom firmware and follow this guide HERE to make a Pandora battery + magic memory Stick which will install 3.71 M33-2 custom firmware onto your PSP.

Or

You will need to use a Easy installer and Buy a Datel Tool Battery or Hardmod your battery into service mode so you can boot the Magic memory Stick.

So first find out if you can get your hands on a PSP that has custom firmware on it. if so use the above guide. if you can't let me know and I will give you instructions to do it the other way.

Just remember if you use that guide and those applications you will need to use a custom firmware PSP to create it. the Applications will not run on a Official Firmware PSP.

*Nods*. I'm virtually positive my friends PSP is below version 3.50. I just have to call him and have him bring it over.

If you need guides to downgrade then go HERE.

Just so you know...

PSP systems between -3.10 - 3.50 will need an unpatched version of Lumines.

PSP systems between -2.81 - 3.03 will need a unpatched version of GTA Liberty City Stories.

PSP systems -2.80 and below can be downgraded without a Game Exploit.

Anything that is 3.51 or above will need a Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick.
