When i bought my 40gb PS3 i was told it can't play PS2 Games, I know that.

However i was told by a retail assistant that sony was releasing an update that would allow PS2 Games to be played on the console.

Was I lied to?

yeah you were, sony removed the hardware that allows you to play ps2 games so i don't think an update will allow you to.

Actually it would be possible since the backwards compatability is now emulated, but I don't think it will ever be updated tp play them though.

i was told the samething at best buy

i was told that there is software that will emulate it on the 40g verison
but they did not mention where to find it
i really dont' care, i still have a ps2

it is more then just software. you still need some hardware for the software to work and sony left that out as well.
