is it possible to recover a gamertag on an xbox that has been banned of live i want to know because of gamerpoints

You can't on an Xbox which has been banned because you can't connect to LIVE. But you can recover it on another console which isn't banned.

Yea, I got banned today . I was'nt connected. Then I connected and got the error message. I knew it was coming because Nov, 27 my xbox broke(for the second time). I called costumer support to bring it in for service. They wouldn't honor my warrenty. I asked to speak to a manager. The manager said if I opened my Xbox and changed the firmware. I said no, and insisted him to honor the warrenty. And he said, I have to be honest with you, you were banned from Xboxlive sir. I said I was just on. Then I called xboxlive and they said that I wasn't banned and that this manager shouldn't have said that. Well I got my xbox serviced from xbox-pros(same day in house)and went back online,of course not going on with any backed up games.(cable unplugged). I only pluged it in to commumicate with friends and up date my scores. Did that today and I got banned. Folks xboxlive can detect your firmware. Thats why this manager knew ahead of time that I was already banned and that my xbox had TAMPERED FIRMWARE. HE said it, not me. They will banned the rest of the modded xboxes. It's like take a number and I will get to you. There are probally millions on modded xboxes floting around and they can't keep up with ban demands.

It's not so bad by keeping the banned sysyem. 5 things you could do with a banned systen, First, Sell it . It still works.There's a way to change the serial. Your achievements still pop. But if you must have Xbox live,then: Secondly, purchase another core xbox (sell the wired contolers back to gamestop for your favorite online game) and only play real retail games on it, no backups. you could switch harddrive back and forth to transfer gamer info/achievements and sill play your back ups on banned xkox.(I guess this is the best of two worlds if you must have live but do you realy need it?) Thirdly, get a ps3 an foget about live and xbox breaking again. Forthly, get a Wii and play with your daughter and family and sill keep banned xbox for upcoming games and forget about live and wait for the xbox to break again.( This is my choice.) Fifthly, keep banned xbox don't get PS3 or wii and wait for new firmware update wait for the xbox to break again, play cat and mouse game agin with xboxlive send your system in for repairs when needed to Xbox-pros.com. Na,forget about live thats what I'm doing.

If it were so then these forums would be lit up. You got flagged with a bad backup.
Obviously, if you've been caught with a bad backup, then MS knows you've got modified firmware. That's the only way to play backups.
A lot of progress has been made since Nov. 27th (when you said you're were banned) on how MS may be detecting backups.

No I got banned Sat Dec 15th. Nov 27th an Xbox rep told me that I was banned, but it wasn't true till Sat Dec. 15 that I actuall got banned. And I wassn't playining any back ups on line.

Don't sell your 360. You can unban it yourself. All you need is a friends key until someone makes a generator. Here's the link:

One problem with that, though, if you're both logged on to LIVE at the same time it'll appear as the same console logged on from 2 different ip addresses. And that'll be a big flag for MS to ban both consoles.
Obviously they don't ban by the serial as previously thought, or that guy would have just been banned again right away. It's the key they go by.
Your best bet would be to get it from a second console you own. Even if that means picking up a cheap rrod.

Im in agreement w/SMOOBIES, might as well keep your 360, lets not lie to ourselves, most people play backups online.
I think it would be best to keep your banned system to test games before u buy a great game, example, Say RB6 vegas 2 comes out, and u got it early, play it on your banned box, and if u REALLY love it to want t oplay live for co op purposes then BUY the real game for your LEGIT 360 to play online, .
My problem now is My old 360 I gave to a friend since he never plays online, I cam across NEw 360s at BB, 175W so obviously it was a FALCON, now t hat I modded it last night and seeing people got banned with the new 1.4 im scared to go online and might as well keep it for offline to play backups, and after xmas I might buy a NEW one again for online but doubtfull cause I only play halo 3 cause I love MP. But for 1 game what sthe point maybe after march I would.

switched on the box tonight for cod4 and i have been banned.thought i was the special one. not jose! had same fw for 18 months on a tosh drive.might be a good thing as was shooting bad guys in my sleep.call of duty 4 online is simply best game ever made.modded 8-9 360s for mates in past.just a matter of time for them.looks like microsoft have had enough.will prolly get core system when i can afford and buy cod4.GUTTED!

Trust me it's possible. If they ban me again I will get another key in the 1-2 years it takes to ban me again. I don't know why they even try, even if you couldn't use another key you can buy a motherboard or RROD 360 off ebay for $5o and replace yours. They are really only trying to sell more 360's otherwise they would ban your gamertag and account.

I agree with ya brother... it's possible, the tools are out there to do it now. It's just the way you posted of getting a friends key is what I meant by being too risky. They're pleanty of other ways to get a key. You just don't want risk having 2 consoles with the same key logged on to LIVE.

What I meant was you can, I use my friends key and we play each other on
Live. But yes it is possible they logged that and I will be banned again in the next wave of bans. At the current rate I don't see that happening until the next Xbox comes out, even if it happens once or twice it won't be hard to get more keys. Until they ban your IP it's no sweat. Even if they ban my gamertag I don't mind unless it messes my saves up because I don't care about acheivemnts.
