Dear After Dawn Team,

Most likely this question has been asked like million times but I am having understanding the steps. Here is my story:

I recently purchased PSP Slim (DEXTER) Edition for my son. I will give him on Christmas. I also have an ISO file (a game) that I would like to play on that same PSP. I understand that there are bunch of steps involved and I need to downgrade my firmware. Currently under my system settings it says 3.71.

So my first question is: As a newbie can any one tell me how I can play that iso game?

Do I need to downgrage my firmware?

If so wouldn't I loose all the updates and new features that came with my updated firmware. For example Video Scene search is a cool function that is only available to firmware 3.70 and higher. Please see the chart below.

So is there a way to play that ISO game without firmware downgrade?

What do I need to downgrade my firmware? Where should I start? Are there any youtube videos for newbies like me? What are my chances of bricking my PSP?

Dear Team, I appreciate your responses in advance. God Bless You All

Well, the first thing you need is a 1gb or higher memory stick, and an old psp capable of running homebrew. This means that you need to borrow someone else's old black psp and mod it to 1.50 or higher Custom Firm Ware. After you have done that you need to make a pandoras battery and magic memory stick. There are guides to doing that all over the board. Make sure you use the newest versions of everything. I bought the Star Wars pack with the white slim like 3 days ago, along with a 2gb stick. I had the newest Custom firmware by the end of that night. You can also buy a pandoras battery, but you'll still need a magic memory stick.

So all in all, you need a phat (older black) PSP that is already capable of running homebrew. One you have that, come back here and I'll guide you step by step if you wish.

Dear leetman99,

Thank you very much for your response but how am I gonna find another PSP? I don't know anyone with a PSP, let alone owning an old one. Do I need this old PSP temporarily? How does it get into the picture I am not sure? Are there people who would do this to me by charging me money?

Thank you,

Check out this guide here:

You'll either need to hard mod a battery or buy a datel tool battery - this guide has all that info.

OK here is the latest: I found a high school kid, who would mod my slim psp for $30. I will meet him infront of his school and he said that whole operation would take him 5 mins. Do you think this is a good idea?

$30 isn't a bad option since Christmas is just a week away. Just a shame people want to make money off of an exploit that they got for free.

You will probably pay close to that if you where to buy a Datel Tool Battery or pay shipping to have someone else do it for free. But you would actually have it for future use.

I do suggest if you do have the kid do it that after he does it you should get a backup battery and memory stick and create 1 yourself just in case you need it in the future. HERE is a guide that will help you out if you decide to make 1 for yourself after the kid installs the custom firmware.

I would do it for free if you where near me/ LOL Where abouts are you located?

Hey Larrylje,

Thanks for your posting. Here is what I did. I met the guy at Borders two days ago. Paid him the money, and he did his magic. Everything works perfect and I am so happy.

I don't think it is a shame for him to charge me money. First he met me and at least spent half an hour with me. He answered all my questions etc. This is a great service for dummies like me. I bet I would have bricked my psp trying to mod it. Anyway, all is good now. I live in the Bay Area by the way.

Thanks

Hello All-

I've been reading this post, and am pretty much in the same boat - new "Daxter" PSP bundle, but would really like to be able to play backups - or rather, would like that option available for my 7 y/o son....I'm rather leery of doing this myself, so given the fact that the subject has been broached here, is there anyone in the West Michigan area (along the lakeshore) that could handle this for me?

You guys need to learn how to add images to the site that dosent screw the page up.

If you can't fit it onto the page then link to a thumbnail of the image that others can click on to get a larger image of it.
