Wiikey has been fine since i installed it months ago , 1.9g has been installed and was working , GCOS boot disk also no probs , booted fine

wife plays an orig GC disc to test for the kids at Chrimble but a day or so later we try to use a backup Wii disc and it fails to read , all backup discs now fail to read , only originals work ???

thoroughly checked all connections with Makro zoom on camera and enlarge on Pc and every connection is 100% from Wiikey to board , nothing has come loose or changed , the machine never gets moved or banged and is a open position where no heat can build up

currently running 3.1E , 1.9g

any thoughts from you peeps , my feelings are the key has gone down , never read of it before but i guess it can happen

i cant access it at all with the GCOS or 1.3 setup disc , 1.2 also fails to be read as the others previously listed ???

foxed !!!

same thing happened to me after that lastest nintendo update, when i load a backup it does nothing and originals do the same... the only way it works is by putting the original and pressing reset but my backups don't work this method, only originals, I tried GCOS and config disk but the wii don't even read :(

i had no probs after update to 3.1E , all was well for a while ... after a read around it does seem like others have had exact same probs as me , origs work , backups dont

tried recovery disc as last resort but to no avail , nothing for it but to find another key sadly

and for safety i wont be upgrading to 1.9g again until the beta becomes full , chance ya take i guess !!

I fixed mine... something happened with my verbatim disks... I tried the setup disk and GCOS in a sony dvd-r and made the region overdrive on again and now it read all my backups again

thats an odd fix , you mean ALL your backups that you had been using All went up the swanny at the same time .... c`mon its chrmble not April fool lol

anyways , glad yours is up and running , we have only ever used old and new type Rytek G05 purple dyes , prolly best there is for backing up and zilch of them work now after an install of the 1.9g and a week or so

i`l have a hunt for some crappy media heer but i dont think we have any lol

yeah it is odd, it stopped reading all my verbatim and I had an old setup disk in a sony dvd and the sony dvd worked, I changed the region overdrive to on again and my wii was reading verbatim dvds again.

Since we're talking media here, I have to say something that probably you guys will not believe:

My Wii love the STAPLES brand DVD-Rs. I swear not a single coaster.

Where's the party?!?

Just do a reinstall... my Wiikey stopped working after 1 day with my bad first installation. I did a reinstall and it's working fine now. So I bet it's a soldering problem.

I am getting the same problem - My Wii has stopped accepting any backup games and is only allowing the genuine Wii Sport.

I think there is something wrong with my wiikey, but i am not sure what - Its either the hardware or the software of it.

In terms of software - Would it be possible that the wiikey suddenly reset/lost its memory settings? Hence not recognising any backups?

Or the Hardare - Just simply broke and needs replacing...
