Hi i just bought a psp slim. I want to be able to play gba, ps1 etc. I want to know the firmware i can use so i can play these games. My firmware is 3.73.

These are the things i have:
1x psp slim and lite
1x psp slim battery
1x sony pro duo memory stick
1x charger
1x cable to connect to pc

I have no intention of buying anything else, although i do have a soldering kit. Please give me a step by step guide on what to do and what firmware i should get. I don't need to have the best firmware, just tell me what i need to play the emulators. I currently have gPSP TEST 8.6. So please help.

Thanks,
Newbie

You need to install custom firmware to the PSP SLIM.

The only option you have is a Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick.

The easiest way to create this is with aa PSP that has custom firmware already on it.

So if you have a friend that has custom firmware already on it see if they can help mod your PSP SLIM. Go HERE and follow this guide to create the Pandora Battery and Universal Unbricker V3. This will install 3.71 M33-2 to your new offical firmware PSP.

If you don't have access to a PSP that has custom firmware then go HERE and follow this guide. You can use the Easy Installer to create the Universal Unbricker V3 on your official firmware PSP but you will either have to buy a Datel Tool Battery or Hardmod the PSP Battery to get the 3.71 M33-2 to your official firmware PSP.

A 2 Hour wait is hardly forever. Plus the guide tells you to unmod the hardmodded Battery after your finished to get it back to normal.

So if you would have read the guide completely you would have answered part of your own question.

Edit the title of your thread to something more then 'Help Needed' - needs to be more descriptive of what help you need.

How should i open my PSP slim battery. I don't no what to use.

Another thing i'm curious about. I heard the new PSP Slim's are patched. The battery and the console itself are patched. Is this true? Does this mean i can't install CFW on my PSP.

the slim ocnsole is patched such that it is unable to use 1.50 kernel which was the fundamentals for homebrew.. but with the changing modding scene, it doesnt seem to be necessary now

the batteries are patch such that it cannot be soft mod.. but there are reports about working hardmodded slim batteries? [im not sure on this one]
