I soldered the wiikey in and i put a few games in but it wont play them. it says disk cant be read. it will play originals but not backups. do i need to do anything before i am able to play them? i soldered it in and put the disks in. i am trying to play sims castaway and ea playground.

you shouldn't have to download any firmware and install it unless you are trying to play SMG. It should play directly after installation just fine.

You might also include some pictures of your installation so we can check it out for you.

I ran the update on my wii. the games run on it now. thanks for the advice.
