Hey how are ye all

I moved over to the USA from Scotland and lugged my PS2 over with me in my suitcase, looking forward to many Nor Cal evenings in front of the machine.
I used my travel adaptor plug to allow me to fit my three pin plug into the US two pin socket but got nothing.
Not a sausage,.
Stone dead.
I have no knowledge of electricity apart from the fact that it will 'kill me deed' if I mess with it.
Anybody out there in afterdawn know how I can breath life back into it?
I'm assuming its a voltage thing but don't know what to do about it.
Hope someone can help.
