Will it work though?

It will be a USB 2.0 Ex. HDD
I use a Flash drive right now, And it works perfect

It will be used for playing:

HD-WMV Movies
AVI Movies
MP3's
Pics

So If I go out and buy this will it work fine?
(I have heard both "Yes and No")

Yes it will work, but you will have to format it in HFS+ in order to avoid the file size limit on your wmv-hd's.

ok, So i have downloaded "macdrive_7.0.10"

How does this work?
Once I use this on the 500GB Drive, I can simply add all the files I want to the drive to play on the 360?

or is there some sort of converting?

Macdrive 7 is what I use. You have to initialise the disk using Macdrive first, and chose HFS+ format. Obviously you only need do this once. After this, your drive, when plugged into the PC will show up in My Computer with a small red apple on its icon. XP will then treat the drive as normal after that, and you simply drag and drop your files onto it.
Once plugged into the 360, just go to the media tab and select "external device", and all will be there for you.

Its a much better way of playing movies as you dont get the disk spinning noise.

I think on a 500Gb drive, you are going to have to have an external power supply. I use a 2.5" Laptop 160Gb hard drive in a caddy that will power itself from the 360's usb ports....one less power supply to worry about in the cable jungle .

Because You cant use the Ex.HDD for any "Game saves / Live data"
You can only use them for:

Music
movies
pics

I see, I have a 160 gig My Book USB HD connected to my desktop that houses all my music and movies. So I should be able to plug this HD to my xbox now and watch my movies and listen to my music through the xbox? Sweet. Do I need to install any drivers or applications to make this work. I am running a PC not a mac.

Well, it looks like you did not see the rest of the posts....

You must format the Ex.HDD first with a program called "macdrive_7.0.10"
(find it yourself)
