I have a flashed Toshiba drive.

I had my laser replaced. Stock one was grinding and causing large circular scratches on disks, deeming them un-usable.

Now, a lot of my games get the error:

"The disk is dirty"
or
"The disk cannot be recognized"

I noticed this onseveral EA backups.

NHL 08 - rarely
Tiger Woods 08 - Rarely
Madden 08 - ALWAYS - It had worked fine before, though.
COD 4, MOH:AA - Both get errors before the menu screen.

All my disks (Verbatim) have gotten lots of miniscule scratches. None of these scratches seem capable of causing these errors.

What do you believe the problem is?

*I can find out what firmware/laser type are in there, but I'll need a day or two.

Also, will Ritek/Ridata DL disks work for burning games? Found them a lot cheaper than most other DL media.

And what is a good (Not too expensive, hopefully not much more than $50) disk cleaner? Maybe Game Dr? Which type.model?

Are u laying your system down? or do you have it Vertical?

I would recommend laying it down as this may eliminate your disc

read errors... If that doesn't work then I would try tweaking the

POT on the laser... you need a multimeter and it is very easy to

tweak.. google it and you should find a PDF tutorial on tweaking

the POT for 360 drives... yeah Ritek will work but I would stick

w/ verbatim... Good luck

I just answered a question just like this here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/602268 . Hope it helps.

Also, when you buy "cheap" media, that's exactly what you're getting. Google "Ritek/Ridata dl quality" and you'll see alot of posts complaining about it.
