I have had my Wiikey for a pretty long time now and i updated it to work with SMG and it works fine, I just got a wireless router and i when i connect it to my wii it ask me to update my wii version. My question is, is it safe to update it or will it brick my wii ?

And when i click up update it says if you wii is modified it will not work after the update

no you're good to update right now. It's just a Nintendo scare tactic. Just make sure that you don't update from a game disc from a different region and your fine for now.
