quick question about CFW versions and emulators *slim psp*

hey all
First post, and i can't deny it i'm a giant noob atm lol.
I've been reading heaps of the guides and posts but there is so much info that i'm not sure what is out of date/applicable any more, and add to that the slim VS fat tutes..its all very confusing.

Anyway, i bought a pre modded PSP slim from (www.ozmodchips.com) which came with CFW 3.71 M33 on it.
But i see lots of people talk about 3.71 M33-4 (and M33-3 etc)

In my system info it says my firmware is 3.71 M33, so would it be safe to assume i can upgrade to M33-4?

Second issue i'm having is getting emulators to work (i got the snes one for slim to run though). I read that i might need the 1.50 kernel (does this change my FW or is it just an addon) But when i downloaded the kernel and ran it it said something like "this program is intended for original psps only" is this a slim problem?
So how would i go about installing it?
Also on one of the other posts someone mentioned that 1.5 is in m33-4, is this true?

Thanks for your help, i just need to get my bearings in this massive psp hacking scene.

You can update straight to M33-4 which you can get HERE. just extract the file and drag the UPDATE folder to the /PSP/GAME folder then run the update via Game Menu Memory Stick.

1.50 ADD ON is for PSP FAT only. Sorry to say your SLIM will not support the ADD ON. But most homebrew has been ported for use with SLIM anyway.

HERE is a link that gives a compatibility list of popular homebrew and emulators that work and do not work on SLIM PSP's.
