Front headphone jack not working on Vista

I'm running an XP/Vista dual OS. When I use XP, I can use my headphones in the front jack no problem. When I use Vista, nada, nothing, zilch. Not even showing in the audio panel. Previously, I had the Realtek Audio drivers installed and I had front panel output. I removed the drivers because it was causing certain conflicts with other apps. I reverted to the default Vista driver and now the apps work fine, but no front panel output. What's going on?
