I flashed my Hitachi 78fk with Maximus toolbox the way it is described in Texbook's guide. I chose the Toolbox 4.5 and iextreme 1.2. Everything went as it was writen in the guide but I still can't play backup games. The message is the same as before (the disk is for 360...). Did I burn the image wrong, or is the problem with the flashing method. If I decide to reflash the drive, must I first restore it from original firmware?

need a little more info. if you followed the "textbook" and there were no errors reported, then the flashing probably worked fine.

what burning program are you using? did you set the layerbreak to the specified number? what media are you using? are you ripping your games using a kreon flashed drive? what are you using to rip your games?

I downloaded the backup game :$ and burn it with nero. Is layerbreak always required? I used some local brand of DVDs, I'll try with some major label as soon as I faind them. Our backwater town isn't very "computer frendly" :)

i have nero also, but haven't gotten it to work for backup 360 games. download and install imgburn. it's free, and has worked 100% of the time.

yes, you MUST set the layerbreak, unless you are burning from the .dvd file (in which the layerbreak is already set). there is a tutorial on how to use imgburn on this site. just search for it.

i've heard various media working on the 360. i've always used verbatim dvd+r dls, and have 100% success rate.

no problem. just let us know if it worked or not. then we can rule out various things and eventually get it to work. sometimes it's just a trial and error thing.

one more thing....make sure you have the latest and greatest firmware for your dvd BURNER from the manufacturer. that usually helps.

I solved the problem. I don't know what I did but I did it! :) I think it was the layer break or the writing speed. Thx for the help!
