FAT ps2 or SLim ps2? which is better for back ups?

I am in search of a new ps2 since mine took a crap. I had a v12 slimline ps2 and had a dsm4 pro lite installed. i also had a laser diode installed. i thought i took all the precautions necessary so that my ps2 laer wouldnt burn out, and im not even sure it did. All i know is that my controller ports are going out,the reset button, and the audio/video port is also going out. But the main reason why i need to get a new ps2 is because my discs wont spin at all. i'll turn the ps2 on, the chip still works, but the discs wont spin anymore. it just goes straight to the menu screen. since i dont know anyone who can fix it, or even find out whats wrong with it(and since its got problem after problem), i might as well purchase another one.

So my question is, which would you guys recommend for playing ps2 backups, the fat ps2, or slim?

Well since there are 2 kinds of slim now, let me rephrase.

Which would you recommend? the fatps2, slimLine, or new super slimline?
