My PS2 slims laser burnt so I went out and replaced the whole thing today. I think I wanna save this one and soon enough get a new laser for the other so I have one to tinker with and do some cool custom case and lighting mods.

First off I wound up for some reason getting the Platinum ( i have a obsession with PS2 cases )to add to my collection of different cases. I figured I would try to keep this one nice and didnt want any chips or anything in it but until I get my other fixed would like to occasionaly run some back ups on it. Seeing on how I would need the piece that tricks the switch, I got to thinking about the good old sticky tack or putty trick and I gave it a try. IT WORKED!! Just like it did on other systems of the past. I wounder why I never see anything about it on here. All I see is the tissue and tape trick along with the magic switch.

Ok now, here is what I need to know.

The platinum is model: SCPH 79001ss.

Is there a upgrade to a better laser for this? I read on a site that they sell pre modded systems with this upgraded lens but the rst of the info was void. I would like to put one in just in case so if possible can someone fill me in?


Now the other one. It is the: SCPH 77001cb. What lens upgrade do I purchase for this? I actually need the whole lens and slide rack cause I lost the stupid little white piece that helps hold the slide rail in place! The thing just fell right off and apparently right into oblivion cause it wsnt anywhere to be found.
