Normally I'm the one posting answers. But in this case, I'm not too sure.

Just finished the install of the newest chipmod in a V7 system.

The disc tray only stays open for about 3 seconds. (light flashes the whole time) Then closes. In the 3 seconds it is open, it will boot everything.

Customer support at Modchip.ca told me to check the ribbon cable. And I looked over it thoroughly, with no visible problems.

So are there points on a mod chip that control the ps2 disc tray? Thanks very much for your time!

Turns out it had nothing to do with the solder points. I pulled on the tray and it moved out less then a centimeter and stayed out. Success! Only problem is, how to continue to keep it coming out that extra centimeter.?

Well. Problem solved. I had to pull the tray a little harder and it came out another half inch. It now stays out at the right times. Easy fix. I am happy.
