When playing an online free-for-all game on Call of duty 4 I noticed there are what looks to be little ID tags next to a few peoples names on the score sheet. Does anyone know what these are?

they are clan tags they show wot clan you are in

I thought the clan tag was the few characters in brackets before the user ID.
The tags Im talking about are 2 small silver tags.

Also The tags appeared next to my name lastnight for 1 round and Im not in a clan...

They appear when you die. For eg if you die and then the game finishes at the same time you get a dog tag next 2 your name

OK, that sounds feasible but I'm sure I've seen them mid game sometimes when you press 'select' to bring up the scoreboard.

If you are talking about COD4 on the playstation 3, yes they are "Death Tag's" they appear next to your name when you or any player is dead.

I have a professional clan [Tag]on Call of duty 4 Playstation 3.

The clan is called [Xp]

Always looking for player's.

Yeah. Dog Tag means DEAD. Its the I still dabble on Call of Duty United Offense on the PC and when you die on multi player, it means that your dead.
