hey all I am trying to burn dvds i have the liteon dvd+r/+rw drive
model number ldw-401s-wi the software that came with it is Sonic mydvd and power dvd..
i try burning but the software seems to be looking for something on my computer not in
the dvd drive.. could someone please explain what it is that it is looking for and how to get it.
i thought that by purchasing a dvd burner i could burn from dvd to dvdr..Is the movie suppose
to be in another format? if so how do i get it there..there are no instructions
on how to burn the dvd i though i could just pop a dvd in and a blank dvdr in teh liteon..but no it won't do..

Hi, there are so mayny ways to copy a dvd to dvdr, try this guide to get you started. Hope you have some joy.

Hi Neongirl,
Thats what I thought when I started! It doesn't work like CDs though. DVD movies are encrypted, may have region protection and are usually way to big to fit on a blank DVD.
These two programs work together to allow you to get past these issues and make a copy of your movie. AnyDVD and CloneDVD (free trial!)
There are other programs as well, some, like DVD Shrink, will rip and compress and put the files on your hard drive, others, like Nero will burn those files to your blank disc.
Make sure you use compatible media, and why not use RW media that you can use over if there is a problem.
Spend some time here at Afterdawn and see what other people are doing.
