I have a psp slim with cfw 3.71 m33-2 . I've followed the steps to playing iso's but every time I try to run them I get "the game gould not be started"(80020130) error or some other one like it. I tried changing the settings in recovery and also disabled the advanced settings. I tried using the demo umd and also tried without it. The most logical thing to do would be to upgrade, but I'm not even able to do that, cus anything that is put in the game folder or even the iso folder till now hasn't run, it gives the same error and some times even a corrupted data icon.The demo umd itself plays perfectly fine and anything else as well. I'd appreciate any help that is offered. And I ought to add that i'm sort of a noob , so i'd appreciate clarity.

80020130 = file read error

bu22ard got it right. I found out just a day after posting that the problem was with my memory card. If anyone else has the same problem check any other file you put into your psp. Even music, pictures etc get corrupted. To know beyond doubt that your memory card is a fake, in the main menu when you highlight your memory card, press triangle and then choose information. Check what's written next to magicgate. If it says supported then there's no problem, but if it says unknown, then you know that you've got a fake product. I had to learn the hard way, guess it serves me right for buying cheap stuff. (There's no other way of knowing, the fake looks like a replica of the original card.)

I have been trying to figure this error out for a few weeks and I search on google but can't find a solution. I get this error when I try to load emulators and I think I receive the same error, when i try to play ISO games. I can play CSO games...without any issues.
I did go into the recovery and changed to 1.50 and I tried all the folders but I received the error code (80020148). I have the PSP version -----> 3.90 m33-2
So, I notice a new CFW out and I updated to 4.01 M33-2 today. Now, I'm rec'ving the error 80020130. I did check my memory stick and it's the real memory stick.
So, I need some help to figure this out. If you know an answer please be datail.

You need to add the 1.50 ADD ON for 1.50 support. Even tho it list 1.50 kernel the 1.50 kernel is not supported without the 1.50 ADD ON.
If you have a SLIM then the 1.50 ADD ON can not be used. You will need to use time machine or download Emulators that have been ported for 3.XX and higher firmware.
As for the ISO/CSO error you can fix this by pressing the SELECT button at main XMB and the VSH menu should come up. Go to ISO MODE and change it to Sony NP9660 then exit the VSH menu and it should work.

I have tried everything you mention before you responded to this post. Also, I downloaded the new CFW and the 1.50 before you even posted and I still have the same issue. {as I mention in the first post...but thanks for your response.}

I just went into both section and I didn't need to do anything because both sections are already set, per your request.
So, I still have the issue.

This should fix it Go to Recovery Mode - Advanced - Advanced Configuration --- and you should see and do this -
Plain Modules in UMD/ISO (currently: Enabled)
(and the rest of them Disabled)
Hopefully that works cuz it did for me.

All "advance configurations" settings should be disabled not enabled.
For homebrew issues keep in mind that SLIM systems can only use SLIM(3.XX) compatible homebrew for it to start and work properly. If the homebrew is 1.50 based then it will not work on a SLIM. Also if your running 3.71 M33 or higher on a FAT PSP you will need to install the 1.50 ADD ON to have 1.50 Hombrew support.
If you have issues running PSX games then use popsloader plugin for a better PSX compatibility.
For those still having issues go HERE and follow this mini-guide.
If it still does not work try formating the Memory Stick via OS system then format again via PSP system settings.
If it still doesn't work try using a different Memory Stick to see if the problem can be solved.
