I am going to get a 360 for Christmas, and i want to mod it. Isn't there like a hard drive one, and if so, do i have to get that one? Or can i just get the cheapest, 300$ one? I heard that the 360's break a lot. If i mod it and it breaks, am i just stuck with a broken 360? Yes, i'm a total noob for this 360, but i want to be sure of some things. Ok, if i have a tv that is HD, but isn't because i haven't paid for it, will i still get HD with the 360?

You can mod any of the 360's, its just a firmware upgrade to the dvdrom. The newer 360's dont break as easily, but they still do. I recommend getting the elite system. Yes Your 360 will be HD as long as you set it up with HDMI or component. ( The arcade edition and core system do not come with the HD cables)

I was planning on getting the arcade version. Like i have a dvd player that is HDMI but i don't have the cables. But i mean i don't have HD, not the box or cables. Can you notice the difference without the cables and with?

Can i buy cables alone or do i have to spend 100 more to buy the elite? Is there a guide that explains the firmware upgrade to the dvd drive where i can play backups? Also will i be having to pay for hardware to mod the 360 like with the original xbox modchip? Thanks a lot.

Most peope would say the picture difference is extremely noticable. I would recommend getting the cables. Here in Canada we can buy the cable for around $40 I think at best buy. Now for the firmware... follow this link http://www.360mods.net/tutorial/Textbook.pdf
you cant really do much planning until you find out what kind of drive you will have in your 360, the methods are all different...
