hey, i'm planning on getting a 360 but i'm not sure whether i should get a pro or an elite.. is the elite actually worth the extra money, or is the pro fine as it is? oh and im not planning on modding it or anything.. can someone point out the biggest differences between the two for me, thanks in advance

i will be honest, if you are going to be going on live and downloading stuff, like classic arcade games, now you can download classic xbox games, just stuff like, the 20 gig hdd could be filled in no time, but if your not then the pro. i would say that the elite is kind of worth the extra money considering how much more the 120gb hdd is over the 20 gb and also the included hdmi cable that currently comes with the elite. so pretty much downloading alot(elite), not so much(pro).

Elite. 1. Better GPU and CPU chips in Elite,All the other xbox systems get the shiter ones. Hense less heat thus less 3 red lights. 2. Elites come with 175 Watt power supply. All the othes Core, Halo and premium have a 205 watt power supply. Again less heat hence less 3 red lights.I don't know why microsoft does this to people. My xbox broke twice(premium) The second time I took it down to Long Island xbox-pros.com to be repaired. There must have been 500- 1000 white xboxes to be repaired. I did not see one, not one elite( black xbox) on the shelves. I swear to you, You have to see it to believe it. Spend the money on Elite. Its not the harddrive thats going to go on you its the system. And since its an elite chances are it most likly will not break.

premiums are now shipping with the "falcon" motherboard now too with hdmi, so still there is no need to buy an elite, unless you will be downloading off live.

I don't give a shit what mother boards they are shipping with. Just go to Best Buy, Target and read what's on the package. Only Elites have the better processors and better power suppies like I posted earlier. Go, Go see for your self. Lets keep this simple. Less heeeat, nooo threeeee reeed lights! got it. God its like I'm talking to my 4 year old daughter. ( Just kidding)Oh , I take one thing back, the Halo edition has the better processor but the same 205 Watt power supply. Just go down to the store and see for you self, because you are probaly not going to believe me any way.

The Falcon motherboard has the 65nm cpu (the better processor). The Elites DO NOT have a better gpu. None of the 360s do yet. It's only the cpu which has been replaced so far. The last report said the 65nm gpu wasn't going to be released until Fall of 08 and will be called "Jasper".

Not all Elites come with the 175w power supply and "better processor". And the newer lot Premium and Arcade models do have it.

Easiest way to find the new cpu (Falcon motherboard) is to look at the sticker on the box (packaging). If it says 175w, then it's a Falcon. If it's 203w, then it's the old Xenon motherboard.

LOLOL FUNNY yours died after 3 months!!! You probably caused it and didn't take care of it, moron

so me leaving it in one spot in a well ventilated entertainment system would cause me to make it break?

Don't make fun of him . It's not his falt that Microsoft sucks on their quality control. This is why you can't find a Wii on selves( quality control testing) is what an inside source told me Nintendo does. Microsoft does not do this with any of thire products. Eample Windows XP , Vista, Xbox, Xbo 360.And it's because they want to get their product out before any one else. I'm just as guilty as the rest of you folks who purchased a Xbox 360. Nothing but problems and yes I take care of all of my games plus consoles( all five of them). The xbox and xbox 360 are the only ones thus far which broke. 360 broke twice.I love the games but man, the system was rushed,

Ya, the 360 was rushed into production. I agree 100%. It's a shame... if it wasn't for the rrod the 360 would be perfect.

But things are changing. If someone's getting a 360 now a days, their chance of getting a faulty system is greatly reduced. I haven't found anyone who has had problems with a Falcon. It doesn't mean there hasn't been a problem or two, but it's not like with the Xenon. If the Falcon was plagued with the rrod, there would have been a lot of reports.

Best way to find a Falcon is to find the 175 watt power supply.

Well, ya... as long as you get a 360 with the new motherboard. It'll be less worries you.

I have 2 360s right now, one Pro, one Elite, and they're both Xenons. I'm not worried about them, though. I do keep them well ventilated and use a fan. What really sucks is the Elite... I only got it about 5 weeks ago. I was so bent on finding one with a Benq drive that I didn't pay attention to the Lot number. I could have found one with a Benq and Falcon, but grabbed the first Benq I found and it ended up having a Xenon motherboard.

Anyhow, congrats on your 360.
